Day 1 of iStandard’s ‘Beast of The Beast’ 5 event kicked off at the world famous Webster Hall in NYC with a live ‘Behind The Rhymes’ Interview w/ Jay-Z’s longtime engineer and overall expert sound technician, Young Guru. Interviewed by former ‘Editor and Chief’ of the now defunct Scratch Magazine Jerry Barrow. Guru spoke candidly on his experience and involvement in past projects with various artists, who he feels are some of the ‘next to watch’ producers coming up as well as some valuable advice for the crowd of young music lovers. Immediately following the interview were 2 incredibly informative producer panels. To cap the evening off, all the panelists rolled up their sleeves and broke out their laptops to bless the attendees with a celebrity beat cypher in which they played 3 tracks they produced that are familiar to the crowd as well as 3 new beats to show off and let the up and comers know they still have what it takes to compete.
